Wolfgang’s Experience

Here is the account of  Wolfgang  who experienced, together with his family and friends, the Mammarancia Experience first-hand:

“We would like to thank you and your team for the excellent organisation of the visit and the warm welcome on Tuesday 18 April 2023 at your Mammarancia farm. In the context of our cultural trip and week-long visit to Sicily, this day visit to the farm was a welcome novelty. Citrus cultivation is practically unknown in Austria and not everyone thinks about where the fruit comes from and how it is produced. We were able to see the effort behind a crate of oranges or lemons until they reach us. What was impressive was the explanation and differentiation of the lemons with the special characteristics of the Primofiore at the beginning and the Verdelli at the end of the season, so that the fruit is available all year round. In particular, the fully ripe Tarocco, cut directly from the tree with special harvesting scissors (similar to nail scissors), were particularly tasty. The skill with which these scissors were handled was impressive, cutting and laying the fruit with one hand and also re-cutting the stem so as not to damage neighbouring fruit. It is evident that the fruits are organic and are shipped without chemical preservation. So we were able to discover for the first time how good the Albedo (the white under Flavedo) tastes and how healthy and nutritious it is in the end. Edi and Claudia also particularly enjoyed the coffee on the plantation and my wife Elisabeth the orange salad for lunch, so much so that we have already made this vitamin-rich salad twice at home. Gabi and Reinhard are still enthusiastic about the family atmosphere in which we felt at home. Thank you very much from Wolfgang”.
