Stefan and Brigitte Margraf’s Experience

For many years I had wanted to visit the home of “my” favorite variety of “Tarocco” oranges. Now it has been possible, and Graziella (I affectionately call her “my mammarancia contact”) has welcomed me and my wife Brigitte with great care. We were also able to meet the “leader” Charles personally. I have known Carlo for many, many years through e-mail exchanges (e.g., reports on how deliveries arrived in Germany). The mammarancia team, especially Graziella and Carlo, put their best efforts and took care of us perfectly. The very well-organized mammarancia experience tour and especially the warm and friendly atmosphere completely delighted and enchanted us. The drive through the verdant Sicilian countryside to the organic orange gardens also made us very curious, because we had no idea how many oranges actually grow on a tree, for example, or how big a mammarancia orange garden is. On-site tasting of organic oranges freshly picked from the tree was part of the visit, as was an explanation of the harvesting work, which is done exclusively by hand, and the hand-picking of oranges using traditional scissors. The tour continued to the mammarancia logistics center. A fresh crop was processed, that is, sorted and prepared for shipment. Getting to know the entire mammarancia team was something very special for me, because I met in person all the people who have been giving me pleasure with “my” orders for years thanks to their daily and careful work. Everything runs smoothly, from the order to the arrival of delivery to my home. Finally, there was the light lunch-the word is an understatement. It was a meal in the company of the mammarancia family, where regional delicacies were served. Completely full, satisfied and happy, we enjoyed the last espresso and ended this wonderful day. We will gladly seek the opportunity to repeat this experience. The language barrier-I unfortunately do not speak Italian-was offset by Graziella’s perfect German and Carlo’s English, and we had answers to all our questions.
